Nagel Architects has performed work with the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, NAVFAC, the Department of Agriculture, and the Army in the states of Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. From this experience, we have developed a familiarity with various Federal guidelines which including an understanding of the processes involved with preparing an Architect/Engineer Fee Proposal and negotiation with a Contracting Officer or Specialist. We also have a broad understanding of agency specific design standards for all deliverables including Specifications and Construction Documents. Our staff has the flexibility to incorporate the specific design standards of a particular facility with the general associated agency system of standards, and experience in Design/ Build and standard Design/Bid Systems of Deliverables. Our Construction Administration services include coordination of addendums, responses to Contractor RFI’s, and detailed cost justifications provided to the Owner during the creation of Change Orders.

Nagel Architects assisted in the preparation of RFP documents relating to the decommissioning of the central steam system at Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Great Lakes Illinois. The project will ultimately convert 120 buildings to stand alone heating and hot water. The overall goals of this project are to reduce energy consumption and maintenance costs. The project was conducted in two phases: Phase A included surveys and development of a Preliminary Building Report with scope development and cost estimates as well as evaluation of historic buildings and development of strategies based on the Secretary of Interior Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and the Base Exterior Architecture Plan. Phase B Included the development of the Design/Build RFP package, including a Project Manual and Design Development documents which described the intent of the work. Documents were reviewed with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. |

Nagel Architects is performing 100% of the Architectural and Structural Services within the Design/Build Team on this project for the installation of a new Fueled cogeneration system within the existing boiler plant at the Tomah VA Medical Center in Tomah, Wisconsin. The contracted work includes prepare the schematics documents, analysis, design, calculations, phasing, product and equipment information & specifications, construction drawings, commissioning and cost estimates. The project will be coordinated with existing conditions. The estimated construction cost for this project is $8 million. |

This project included build-out of over 12,000 square feet of “white box” space on the ground floor of Wm. S. Middleton VA Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin, creating office space for administrative groups. Renovations include new toilet facilities, meeting space, private offices as well as open office space. This project required work to be completed while the building was occupied and coordination of multiple departments with varied programs. |

Nagel Architects and IBC Engineering teaming together as Integrated Design Group were awarded an Indefinite Delivery Quantity contract at Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain Michigan. Contracts included in the Iron Mountain IDIQ include: Patient Lift Study - Designed solutions for installing a retrofitted ceiling mounted patient lift system at existing ACU and ICU rooms. Replace AHU-Holman Room - Provided Engineering services and design for the replacement of the air handling unit and all distribution systems |

Nagel Architects was selected as part of a teaming effort with Sebesta Blomberg to provide Commissioning Services under an IDIQ contract for Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago Illinois. Sebesta Blomberg is a nationally-recognized provider of full-service engineering and design services, and literally "wrote the book" on commissioning strategies and services for the VA. Nagel Architects provides Building envelope commissioning as part of this contract, including review of construction documents for issues related to energy, life safety, and thermal and moisture protection. |
